Our Technology

Advanced Technology for a More Comfortable, Accurate Visit

At Kulick Dental, Dr. Chan and our team invest in modern dental technology because better tools lead to better care. Advanced imaging, laser dentistry, and digital diagnostics allow us to detect problems earlier, plan treatments more precisely, and complete procedures with greater comfort and efficiency than traditional methods allow. Every technology we use in our Seven Hills office exists for one reason: to give you a more thorough, more comfortable dental experience with results that last.

Sedation

We specialize in Sedation Dentistry and Sleep Dentistry, treating people with dental phobias and anxieties We offer different types of sedation dentistry. These include administering oral sedation, a pill, nitrous oxide (laughing gas), and intravenous sedation to deliver a combination of drugs. All this depends on the needs of the patient.

In this way the patient and the dentist are comfortable providing and receiving the best possible dental care-safe, and free of stress and pain.

Oral Conscious Sedation
Oral conscious sedation is as easy as taking an aspirin and you will feel relaxed and at ease. Oral conscious sedation does not "knock you out" like some other forms of anesthesia. You will remain awake during your procedure, but you will be in a heightened state of relaxation. It is also possible that you will not remember part, or all, of your procedure.

Oral conscious sedation is extremely safe and easy. It is much less expensive than other forms of sedation, and you will be able to talk and breathe on your own during the procedure. It also makes long or complex procedures seem shorter, allowing you to have all of your work done in a single visit. As an added precaution a local anesthetic will be given to the area that is being worked on to ensure that there is no pain. You will need to have someone drive you to and from the office if you use oral conscious sedation for your safety.
IV Sedation
IV sedation is very safe and easy and is recommended for moderate to severe anxiety. Medication is given right into your blood stream and it works quickly and effectively. You will remain awake during your procedure, but you will be in a heightened state of relaxation. It is also possible that you will not remember part or all of your procedure afterwards.

IV sedation makes long or complex procedures seem shorter, allowing you to have all of your work done in a single visit in many cases. As an added precaution a local anesthetic will be given to the area that is being worked on to ensure that there is no pain. The benefit of IV sedation is that the level of medication can be adjusted during your procedure to ensure maximum comfort. Your heart rate and breathing are monitored very closely while you are being medicated because your safety is our number one concern.
Anxiolysis
Anxiolysis is a form of oral sedation using a light sedative, such as valium. It is not as strong as oral conscious sedation, so it is recommended for those with mild to moderate anxiety. You will remain conscious for the procedure, but any tension and anxiety will fade away. You will be able to talk and breathe on your own during the procedure as well. What can be a nerve-racking experience for some is morphed into a relaxing experience.

After the procedure you will even be able to drive yourself home since anxiolysis uses a light sedative. If you have been fretting having dental work done, call us to learn about our anxiety free options for dentistry.
Nitrous Oxide
Nitrous Oxide, known to many as laughing gas, is the most commonly used form of sedation in dentistry. It is administered by having the patient inhale the gas, which is carefully monitored by your doctor. You will fall into a euphoric state and feel completely relaxed. All feelings of fear and anxiety fade away, leaving you to sit back peacefully while your dental procedure is performed. In most cases all dental work can be completed in one visit while you are sedated.

Nitrous oxide sedation is very safe and effective. Once the procedure is over the nitrous oxide will wear off fairly quickly, and you will probably be able to drive yourself home and return to your daily activities.

Waterlase

Waterlase combines YSGG laser energy with a gentle water spray to treat teeth, gum tissue, and bone without the heat, vibration, or pressure associated with a traditional dental drill. Because these are the primary causes of procedure-related discomfort, many treatments with the Waterlase can be performed with fewer shots and less anesthesia. Dr. Chan uses the Waterlase for a wide range of hard and soft tissue procedures, including cavity preparation, root canal treatment, and gum procedures, delivering results with less bleeding, less post-operative swelling, and faster recovery for patients throughout Seven Hills.

Panorex Imaging

A Panorex is a panoramic X-ray that captures a full 360-degree image of the teeth, jaws, sinuses, and surrounding bone structures in a single scan. During the scan, the machine rotates around the head while the patient remains comfortably seated with their chin resting on a small support ledge. This comprehensive view allows Dr. Chan to identify structural issues, infections, asymmetries, and concerns that would not be visible on standard individual X-rays, providing a complete diagnostic picture that informs smarter, more thorough treatment planning.

Intraoral Cameras

An intraoral camera is a small, pen-sized device that captures high-resolution images of every area of the mouth and displays them in real time on a chairside monitor. This allows Dr. Chan to get a precise look at areas that are difficult to view with the naked eye, and more importantly, it allows patients to see exactly what Dr. Chan sees during their exam. When you understand what is happening in your own mouth, treatment decisions become clearer and more collaborative. The images also support insurance documentation when treatment authorization is needed.

Rotary Endodontics

Rotary endodontics uses an electrically driven handpiece with flexible nickel-titanium files to perform root canal treatment with greater speed and precision than traditional hand instrumentation. The rotary system allows Dr. Chan to clean and shape the root canal system more consistently and efficiently, which means shorter appointments and a smoother experience for patients. The flexibility of the nickel-titanium files also allows them to follow the natural curve of each root canal more accurately, reducing the risk of procedural complications and improving the overall outcome of the treatment.

Electric Handpieces

Unlike conventional air-driven handpieces, electric handpieces are powered by a motor rather than compressed air, delivering significantly more consistent torque and cutting power throughout a procedure. This means Dr. Chan can remove decay more efficiently, with greater control and in less time. The result for patients is a faster appointment, more precise preparation of the tooth structure, and a quieter, smoother instrument that reduces the sensation often associated with dental drilling. Electric handpieces are used across a range of restorative procedures at our Seven Hills office.

i-CAT Cone Beam 3D Imaging

The i-CAT Cone Beam 3D Imaging System captures three-dimensional X-ray data of the teeth, jaws, bone, and surrounding anatomical structures in a single 20-second scan. This level of diagnostic detail allows Dr. Chan to visualize anatomy that simply cannot be assessed from a traditional 2D X-ray, making it an essential tool for implant planning, surgical preparation, and complex treatment cases. The i-CAT delivers significantly less radiation than a conventional CT scan, operates in a fully open environment for patient comfort, and produces images that are ready for review in under three minutes. Scan data can be integrated directly with planning software such as Simplant for precise, computer-guided treatment.

CEREC Same-Day Restorations

CEREC technology allows Dr. Chan to design, mill, and place a custom ceramic restoration, including crowns, inlays, onlays, and veneers, in a single appointment. The process begins with a digital scan of the prepared tooth, which is then displayed as a 3D model on screen. Dr. Chan designs the restoration chairside, and the CEREC milling unit fabricates it from compressed porcelain in approximately 15 minutes. There are no temporary crowns to wear, no second appointment to schedule, and no traditional impression material required. Patients leave with a completed, precisely fitted restoration the same day treatment begins.

Oral Cancer Screenings

Oral cancer screenings are a standard part of every preventive visit at Kulick Dental. Dr. Chan performs a systematic visual and tactile examination of the soft tissues of the mouth, including the lips, tongue, cheeks, floor of the mouth, and throat, looking for any unusual changes in color, texture, or shape. When indicated, an ultraviolet light or similar detection device is used to reveal tissue changes that may not yet be visible to the naked eye. Early detection dramatically improves outcomes, making this quick, painless screening one of the most important components of routine dental care, particularly for patients with lifestyle factors that increase oral cancer risk.

Digital X-Rays

Digital X-rays replace traditional film with highly sensitive digital sensors that capture detailed images of the teeth and surrounding bone and transmit them instantly to a chairside monitor. The imaging software allows Dr. Chan to zoom in, adjust contrast, and analyze specific areas with exceptional accuracy, improving diagnostic precision. Digital X-rays also reduce radiation exposure by up to 80 percent compared to conventional film X-rays, making them a meaningfully safer option for patients of all ages. Images are stored electronically for easy comparison at future visits and can be shared with other providers when continuity of care requires it.

Your Dental Care Is as Individual as You Are

At Kulick Dental, no two treatment plans look alike. Dr. Chan and our team take the time to understand your goals, concerns, and comfort level before recommending any course of treatment. The result is care that fits your life and a smile that reflects who you are.
